These links help you trace your Military Ancestors. Just select the buttons to the right and be taken to the best sites for you to find out the details of the ancestor's service. AWM Records button allow you to search the Australian War Memorial nominal rolls for those who served. The Murray Index, Official Records of the Australian Military Contingents to the War in South Africa, compiled and edited for the Department of Defence by Lieutenant-Colonel P. L. Murray RAA (Ret) in 1910. Australians in the Boer War Oz-Boer Database Project will normally generate more information about an individual Australian soldier who went to the Boer War than the Australian War Memorial site, and it will also give the file number for any personal records that the National Archives hold on an individual. Imperial Boer War Database can help you find those who did not serve with Australian units. The NZ Records button lets you search for New Zealand soldiers who fought in the Boer War. The 1st AIF Button takes you to the ADFA AIF Project. An advanced World War 1 database with better search and more details than the AWM one. World War 2, Korean War, and Vietnam War buttons allow you to search the Department of Veterans' Affairs lists of those who served in the wars as per the buttons. The Detailed Records button takes you to the National Archives of Australia online database. Here you can even find the detailed personnel records of World War 1 and 2 veterans and attestation documents for those who served in the ACH during the Boer War. The War Graves button takes you to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission search site where you can find the location of your military ancestor's grave fron 1914 onwards. |
